Thank you for the info.  We are waiting to see if they offer us a refund (we sent them a reqeust for repayment), if not, we will be hiring a lawyer.

The "leaked docs" showing the script they use is very helpful - it was almost verbatim to what Abby, our Addiction Specialist told us.  She's also who told us she was in no way affiliated to Narconon....yet two other people at the hotline told me she is an employee of Narconon and later I found out that she is married to an Intake Coordinator.....lovely...if nothing else happens, we will be filing complaints againt her license...

Hi adamn,

Glad you found the scripts I posted on scribd! Glad the will help in your complaint and refund request.

Have your attorney look over the resources link I gave you before, to see what lawsuits and complaints have been filed on Narconon Fresh Start formerly Narconon Southern California owned facilities including their Sunshine Summit Lodge.  The Northern CA complaints ie: Vista Bay are also helpful, as they all regard  CA laws only. Each state is different in their licensing reqs and what the agencies require of a facility, as well as consumer laws. There are multiple lawsuit complaints there about NN So CAl and NN Fresh start.

If you private message PM me Abby's full name and /or the phone number you spoke with her or comtacted her on, I can find out if she has any connection to Narconon.

I also suggest you copy that questionnaire of mine in the revious link and fill it in for the attorney so he has all the info on how you found the sight, etc in one place. Could save you money in legal fees. The phone numbers, names and website addresses are often key to proving the fraud. If you need any legwork done on names, phone numbers, websites and email addresses used during this whole fiasco, just PM it to me and I will get what information I can for you on them. Especially the fake referral website and ph number that referred you. There are many but we try to keep up-to-date on who owns then, as they often change them to private registration after they find out people are putting 2+2 together and figuring out the connection.

Often a 10 day letter  from an attorney threatening to file a lawsuit helps get real negotiations going after emails and calls made have failed.

Please keep us updated here. Even if you get your money, which I hope you do, and they don't want you speaking up about it, please try to let us or one of us know that you are settling before it gos through so we can update the thread and not put you in a position where you could violate a settlement agreement. A quick PM notifying us as the papers are ready to be signed and money deposited really helps encourage others to persist in fighting for their money back.

I wish you the best.

I received a tip about a possible Abby who works for Narconon Fresh Start who is married to Josh Penn, a registrar for Narconon Fresh Start facilities like Warner Springs, etc.

"How we met

Josh and I met at a wonderful place called Narconon Fresh Start. We are both highly dedicated to this organization because it saved our lives. We help people everyday to be freed from drug and alcohol addiction. Josh has been with Narconon for over 10 years and I have been with them for almost 5.

We owe a lot to this group and we have made true friends that we will keep forever.

There is nothing better than helping another and we could care less about the hours we put in, as long as we are saving lives."

That is the one.  I have found her personal cell phone number as well, I have a recording of her voicemail and it is the same voice of Abby Zimmer, RAS whom I spoke to at the hotline...  I have a recording of her as well - in case we ever need to compare....

There is an attorney in NV who has filed lawsuits against Narconon Fresh Start aka  Narconon Rainbow Canyon Retreat. He's also got 2 cases against Narconon Fresh Start programs in CA. This is very recent. He's suing them in federal court, not state. He's licensed in CA and NV. I'm very excited to have another attorney taking on these cases, especially in CA.

You can read about these cases here:

Well, of course I have found this website because our family was scammed by Fresh Start in Warner Springs. Like others, I was convinced by an "independent" counseling service that Fresh Start would be the best place for my brother-in-law.  5 days into the program (last Friday), we received a call from him that they were trying to brainwash him and making him read L. Ron Hubbard books and "stare into another guy's eyes for hours." At first we thought he was hallucinating from coming off drugs.  However, we looked into it and were shocked to find out that they are affiliated with Narconon and Scientology!!  We flew out there immediately on Sunday and removed him from the facility and placed him in a new, NON-NarCONon facility. Now the fight is on to get our money back.  We contacted a few lawyers who said that our case is too small (we paid $30,000). Narconon's lawyer, Bruce, we have on a recorded phone call with my husband, said we will most likely get a refund, but it will be prorated and could take 2 months.  However, we need the money ASAP to pay for the other rehab, who are being so nice and letting us pay when we get our refund.  I'm starting to get nervous, though, because we are always directed to Bruce, not the claims department.  Does anyone have any advice on this?  I've seen other posts on refunds, but they seem to be center specific.  Thanks in advance for the advice.

P.S.  The craziest part is that I grew up and still live near Clearwater, FL... Scientology's headquarters!  Never in my life would I have imagined that I would be scammed by them.

Hi Caityb830, I just came across your posts here and wanted to say that I hope your family got a refund and that your brother-in-law is doing better. I gather that no news means the money was refunded. It's typical for Narconon refund agreements and that's OK. I just hope your brother in law is doing better.

For the benefit of anyone that may come across this thread, there have been major changes for people being able to effectively fight back against this terrible scam. Since Caityb830's post, there have been about 26 lawsuits have been filed against Narconon Fresh Start, owner of Sunshine Summit Lodge facility. These legal and other complaints can be found here:

The main attorney who is taking these cases is Ryan Hamilton of NV. From what I can tell, he seems still open to taking more cases! He has a website up called Narconon Lawsuits. For more information, as well as contact details visit  http://www.narcononlawsuits.com/
