Its so misleading to someone actually wanting to get help.  I hear "free counseling" as an addict and think these guys are going to help me with my addiction for free.  Nope, just another word game to get more leads.  Despicable.

This practice is despicable and deceptive for several reasons. Usually, these ads are placed in community resource listings in local papers with 12 step groups, self-help, and other services which are free or low-cost. Just another way to get some free advertising. For a bigger splash, Narconon has contacted local news stations to offer an addict's story onsite. They always manage to get the station to film their sign out front for the 6 o'clock news.
