They just dont know when to quit.

Joe and Claire Pinelli are still at it also:

http://detoxinstitute.com/site/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=12&Itemid=31

I hope someone reports Gary Smith for that.

Has anyone checked about Joe Pinelli's status with certified with the National Association of Forensic Counselors (NAFC) ? That  certification  through scientology's fake International Academy of Detoxification Specialists means nothing... see here

http://forum.reachingforthetippingpoint.net/index.php?topic=3638.0

However, Claire is certified LADC as well as her (CSC) Clinical Supervisor Credential through Breining Institute through Breining Institute
http://addictionspecialist.com/profile.php?id=11526

She went and got her ICADC - Internationally Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor - certificate through IC&RC http://internationalcredentialing.org/credentialPR

I have not checked out her MAC, which is given elsewhere.

MAC is given through multiple organizations, including naadac.org . I got side tracked while looking for other MAC licensing orgs. My notes show
credentialing@naswdc.org . I have a draft letter waiting to be sent which I forgot about and will send it now.

Here is an example correspondence I had regarding William Kent McGregor asking about his MAC license from naadac.org, who stated they never certified him ever.  He stopped using the MAC certification acronym of in his promo but it's still on the net I still want it on record that he never had one

I will check for Claire...

To whom it may concern,

I would like to know if  William Kent McGregor ( aka Mac McGregor or Kent McGregor )of McAlester, OK has ever been licensed by your organization as a Master Addiction Counselor ( MAC ). I have already checked with NBCC and none was obtained there.

McGregor uses the MAC acronym for professional purposes and I am looking to see if he was ever licensed for this by your organization ( see last paragraph)
http://www.rehab-drug.net/biophysical.html

Mr. McGregor's license to practice Social Work was revoked by the state of New Mexico in 1991 due to his sexually assaulting a patient:

Name License # Profession License Type Status Address McGREGOR, WILLIAM KENT, I-1454 Social Work Examiners Licensed Independent
Social Worker Revocation
http://rldverification.rld.state.nm.us/Verification/Details.aspx?agency_id=1&license_id=68246&

He received a civil default judgement of over $1,000,000 for this act because he fled the state and refused to appear in court. His licenses was revokes as a result.
http://www.supremecourt.nm.org/pastopinion/VIEW/98ca-017.html

Here is his LinkedIn profile, which does not state any acronyms but does mention his business PITA Group, which trains drug counselors in OK
http://www.linkedin.com/pub/kent-mcgregor/13/46/5b2

These are sites which he promotes his business and experience
www.texas-drug-rehabs.org/alcohol.php http://www.rehab-drug.net/biophysical.html http://www.texas-drug-rehabs.org/resume.php

According to the information on your website, http://www.naadac.org/certification/533
Mr. McGregor does not meet the criteria for a MAC license.

Does he now or has he ever obtained and held one from your organization?

Thank you very much for your assistance.

Gary Smiths wife Vicky has/had her MAC certification through NAFC as well.  Saw that one too.  Its weird that she got one (Claire too) as neither of them worked in a rehab prior to NN.

Is Vicki's NAFC MAC certification still valid?
She got and still is  LADC licensed by OK, as is Kent McGregor.

Master Addictions Counselor (MAC)

MAC Application

The NBCC Master Addictions Counselor (MAC) credential was created jointly by the American Counseling Association (ACA), specifically the International Association of Addiction and Offenders Counselors (IAAOC), and the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). The MAC credential attests to the educational background, knowledge, skills, and competencies of the specialist in addictions counseling. Effective January 22, 2004, NCCs who hold the NBCC MAC credential are eligible to seek Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) status through the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT).

The Examination for Master Addictions Counselors (EMAC) is required for this certification.
Earning the MAC certification

In addition to holding the NCC credential, the requirements for the MAC certification include:

Documentation of a minimum of 12 semester hours of graduate coursework in the area of addictions which may include coursework in group and/or marriage and family counseling (up to six semester hours) OR 500 CE hours specifically in addictions.
Three years supervised experience as an addictions counselor at no fewer than 20 hours per week. Two of the three years must have been completed after the counseling master's degree was conferred.
A passing score on the Examination for Master Addictions Counselors (EMAC).

http://www.nbcc.org/specialties/mac

Like I said, there are multiple avenues to getting a MAC but the criteria are pretty much the same.

As far as I know they are all advertising their MAC or CCDC certifications without the consent of the NAFC and doing so without actually being currently certified.  PM for more details.

Disturbing that these two are giving continuing ed.
