Teresa Duncan and Jeremy Blake suicide Update Teresa Duncan and Jeremy Blake suicide Update Teresa Duncan and Jeremy Blake suicide Update        In a pact guaranteed to raise both eyebrows and hackles, Gus Van Sant has teamed up with Brett Easton Ellis to write The Golden Suicides, based on the true story of the double suicide of artists Jeremy Blake and Theresa Duncan. Blake and Duncan were popular New York Artists who, for reasons unknown, became increasingly paranoid that they were being conspired against by the US government and the church of Scientology. Duncan overdosed on Tylenol in July 2007, and Blake is believed to have drowned himself in the Atlantic a week later. The film stems from a Vanity Fair article by Nancy Jo Sales, and the subject seems to fit perfectly with Van Sant's "Death Trilogy" of Gerry (David Coughlin), Elephant (Columbine) and Last Days (Kuty Cobain) although at this point he's only attached as a writer and not as a director. Ellis' (American Psycho, The Rules of Attraction) involvement is less of an immediately obvious fit, although his fondness for mixing the bleak with the absurd might be an indication of the direction this is headed. Among the production companies involved is Palm Star, who had a hand in s.Darko. But we're sure it'll be fine...

Blake was involved in a small with Beck a scientologist

A week after discovering his longtime girlfriend committed suicide, artist (he created Beck's Sea Change album cover, seen here.) and Rockstar Games designer Jeremy Blake piled his clothes, wallet, and a note under the boardwalk at Rockaway Beach in New York and walked into the Atlantic Ocean. The New York Police Department sent a scuba team into the waters where the 35-year-old, featured in Wired two years ago, was last seen but could not find his body. Yesterday, it was announced that a body caught found by fisherman on July 22nd is that of the famed artist.
 
 According to the LA Times, friends and art peers of the couple say that prior to the pairs double suicide, the two believed they were being stalked and harassed by Scientologists.

Theresa Duncan and Jeremy Blake were ground-breaking digital artists (games, digital "paintings), lovers, and a couple who followed one another into suicide in 2007. Some shared paranoia about the government, religion, drove them to it.

Actually, their paranoia stemmed from fear of persecution by Scientology, according to the Wiki profiles.

Filmmaker Gus Van Sant and author Bret Easton Ellis (Less Than Zero) have been commissioned to turn a Vanity Fair article about them and their double-suicide into a movie, Variety reports (a year after The New York Post first reported this). It's going to be hard to get happy after that one.

As I recall, there was never any evidence linking the two to scientology, beyond an acquaintance with Beck and the blog entries.  IMO, this goes into the "tin-foil speculation" bin. 

If any more evidence has surfaced, bring it.
