I would suggest looking for addiction counseling centers in the area, and then asking for the names of the doctors on staff.

Those doctors will likely include psychiatrists and psychologists specializing in addiction counseling.

These folks do NOT like Narconon. They are also targeted by CCHR. Pointing out that the cult will no doubt try to direct people to Narconon, and reminding them that the cult sponsored the recent CCHR anti-psych exhibit may help. The cult uses the front groups to lure vulnerable people away from professionals who ARE qualified to help them, people are financially screwed and physically and mentally harmed (the dangers of the Purif / "graduating" addicts as peer counselors / Patrick's death at Narconon / front group used to recruit for a cult) and actively works to discredit the psychiatric profession as a whole.

I would cordially invite them to express their reservations about the cult moving into SS at the open council meetings.

As you may or may not know, Scientology is trying to rezone 5395 Roswell Road , at the corner of Roswell Road and Glenridge Drive (APPLICATION # RZ09-001/CV09-001). This occupancy attempt is being made via a loophole in a zoning variance. That said, the so-called church states its intent is to utilize ONLY 1,400 square feet of the 46,000 square foot building as a "Church." Under the current zoning laws in Sandy Springs Ga., Church of Scientology and its property do meet the requirements for its requested use.
 
However, for you the City Council's decision may have a greater impact on your business.  Scientology operates an anti-psychiatric front group called Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR).  This group pushes through legislature to limit and/or stop your profession. I am including a pamphlet with some more information about this group.  Please be aware of them and their intentions especially if the rezoning is approved.

I'd include any meeting dates that are open to the public, and the address and times, if possible, and urge interested parties to attend to learn more.

You know, the last meeting was supposed to be at 7, but was moved to 6, and we only found out by calling about it.  I wonder if we should include the phone number and a suggestion that people call to verify the time of the meeting for this one?

The postcard says "Mayor and Council meetings are at 6 P.M.  All other meetings are at 7 P.M."  The April meeting was the Community/Developer Resolution meeting.  There is one meeting listed for Mayor and Council, on June 16, so that one is supposed to be at 6.

That's where the confusion came from.

I like it except the paradoxical use of URLs:  The ones in the letter are beastly long.  However, most people prefer to not go to tinyurl.com (and other like sites') links, and to know exactly what site the link goes to.  So I really have no feedback on how to fix that.

When I use a tinyurl link, I will include both the tiny and the beastly, and that way they can see where the tiny will take them, but the tiny gives them less to type.  An alternative (and perhaps better in this case) would be to say "... seen the articles in the Sandy Springs Reporter titled Scientologists' move meets opposition" then include the link in parentheses.

If the print version included the article, cite the article as if it was in the paper. You know; newspaper name, date, title, byline/author(s), newspaper section letter or descriptor (Local News, Editorials, etc.) if you deem it useful, page number where article begins...IOW, standard citation style.

In your references, which would be footnoted, link to the full URL, then offer a tinyurl alternative, stating that that is what it is.

Just FYI, if you put   "preview." before tinyurl (preview.tinyurl.com), it shows a splash page that points out the full original link to which the tinyurl link redirects, before actually going there.

I'll grant you that does screw with the entire point of tinyurl.com, somewhat.
