60,000 files kept in the arcieves of Dutch branch.
« on: August 12, 2009, 06:02 »
In an article by Dutch weekly "REVU", reporter Stella Braam estimates
there are approximately 60,000 files kept in the branch's archives.
She went undercover in the CULT to write an article.
This is, in the Netherlands, against the law when not met with the
rulings of the law on privacy.

Quote
"Students, staff, anybody ever in contact with us is filed and
archived, also people who ever bought a book", said the head of the
branch's archive.

Members of parliament ask questions about this issue in parliament
today at the responsible Secretary of Justice.

I can see the headline in `Power Point'* now - 60.000 Dutch Scientologists persecuted by Government!

I would be surprised if there are 600 actual believers in the whole country. Probably closer to 60. Where do they get so many records? Simple - anybody who has ever bought a book, taken a stress test, visited an org and watched the orientation movie, or had any contact of any kind, no matter how tangential, with the cult is recorded. Likely most are no more than name, address, telephone number, and maybe a list of any 'services' provided.

'til next time;

My first reaction is that this is unbelievable, but really it is not.

The cult seems to keep everyone that ever entered its doors on their rosters, mailing lists, email distribution lists just in case they might get some more money from them at a future date. This is also why we see such overblown membership numbers reported, that and dishonesty.

Privacy and honesty do not appear to be part of "ethical" fiber of Scientology.

I was going to ask for the link to this so I could read the whole article, but then I realized it was in another language  ;D thanks for translating!

Each person who ever does anything cult related gets a file correct?  It makes me sad that so many were tricked by the cult.  :'(

I agree with your statement about how scientology bolsters or inflates its numbers via books sales and anyone who ever took a course over the past 50 years. As an outspoken individual critical of the practices of scientology, i find it hard to believe they keep me on their mailing list. Its kind of funny. A year can go by and i get zero pr material from the so-called religion. Then all of a sudden, out of the blue i start getting printed materials. What is even more interesting, are the price lists that are included with the material.

Price lists for books,DVD,s,CD,s and course work. This coming from a religion?  If this is NOT abuse of this groups 501C status, then i am totally clueless. I know i can be thick in the head sometimes, but please! Does my Federal government not see what many of we individuals see?
