Dutch branch of Scientology under investigation
« on: August 12, 2009, 06:03 »
The Dutch branch of the CULT is under investigation by the Labor
Inspection. for not following the law on paying minimum wages.
According to the Chamber of Commerce, the CULT is just a publisher
selling books that ignores all laws on labor and payments.

Quote
"If there is a labor agreement, paying minimum wages is mandatory",
said spokesperson Suzanne van Gils of the Labor Inspection.

Scientology's inability to follow both labor and minimum living wage laws seems to happen in many countries. How can all these scientology adherents be so gullible? I hope one of these countries takes the lead and sets a legal precedent. America can,t seem to do this.

What bothers me with the legal precedent angle is the fact that I can't immediately recall a time when precedence from outside of the US was used in a legal case.

Also, I think the religion claim makes a lot of litigators reluctant to pursue charges against the cult.

The courts may not recognize a legal precedent from another country, but the public does.

Enough well-informed public citizens of all countries, and they won't be able to get any new members.

The Netherlands has been well-informed about scientology since at least the mid 90s.  Please keep us informed, Peter.  I'd like to see a trial with a guilty verdict, and a lot of money owed as a result.
