Is John Travolta cracking up? It's not just grief - and guilt - over his dead son that are tearing the actor apart
24 July 2009, 8:11 pm

Dead of night, and on a deserted Florida landing strip, the silence of the oppressively hot early hours is broken by the low whirring of an electric golf cart, driving lazy circuits.

At the wheel is a bulky, lone figure, hunched forward over the controls as he tries to kill time during another long, sleepless night.

It is a sight that has become something of a regular occurrence in recent weeks, as Hollywood star John Travolta acts out his bizarre nocturnal ritual on the private runway that services his Jumbolair estate.

These articles are pretty sad.  I feel sympathy for John Travolta and what he's going through with regard to Jett's death.  It has to be even worse if he's considering if scientology played a role, through him, in his son's demise.  He has always seemed like a nicer person to me than Tom Cruise ever has, and there has been discussion for years, since Battlefield Earth, I guess, over whether Travolta was backing off from being a "true believer."  At least he did quit promoting scientology as much, but whether that had to do with his declining career, the rise of Tom Cruise as the chosen celebrity shill, or something else, I don't know.
