Garden
« on: April 18, 2010, 10:44 »
Planting season is going well. Have done a lot of tilling and wall building as of late. Next up is a new roof. Already have a fresh crop of Kale in. Most of our home grown lettuce is at the end of their tender/ edible period.

Now its on to pole beans/tomatoes/peppers/carrots/cucumbers/Shard/multi herbs etc. It is so relaxing digging in the dirt.

Sounds like a big garden. We have tomatoes and peppers only.

:D. It is big for a backyard garden. I once grew on 1 full acre. Everything from sweet potatoes to corn. We canned, froze, dehydrated and gave away so much stuff. No pesticides, only good bugs to eat the bad bugs and various plants that acting as natural pesticide.

I haven't ever tried a sizable garden in any kind of seriousness.  The largest was when I was about nine, by my brown thumb mother.

Since then, I've grown some culinary herbs (sorry, cult, if you're watching, just culinary!) in containers on my patio.  So far this summer looks  a little too cramped to make another go, but I'm working towards a better circumstance before too long :)

I think its cool to watch a plant grow. With minimum effort after planting, keeping the garden weed free and watered properly, Lots o veggies can be had. The process of maintaining a garden must release endorphins, as I am pretty mellow when getting down and dirty with the earth. LOL
