Scientologists Made An Anti-Anderson Cooper Mag And Handed It Out At CNN - The Business Insider

The Church of Scientology doesn't like it when the media gives it less-than-positive coverage (which is pretty much the only type of coverage the media gives it), and its members tend to get rather aggro with the journalists who produce such features.

In retaliation against these types of pieces, sometimes Scientologists get stalkey. Sometimes they make threatening phone calls. And sometimes they produce 95-page magazines attacking a journalist and then hand out copies in front of his place of work.

That's what members of the Cult Church did this morning at CNN to get back at Anderson Cooper, who did a week-long, five-part investigation called "Scientology: A History of Violence" back in March.

TVNewser's Kevin Alloca reports:

Freedom, "published by the Church of Scientology since 1968," devotes the entire issue -- and accompanying 30 minute DVD -- to a attempted takedown of the CNN anchor, the "AC360" crew, and the interview subjects featured in the series. (Please do yourself a favor and check out Cooper's "statement" at 11:30 in this incredible video.)

As noted in their video, the Church of Scientology now owns its own printing facilities to manufacture publications like these.

The U.S. Church of Scientology has struck back at Anderson Cooper's week-long "exposé" of the church, complaining that Cooper merely provided a soap box for several former Scientology members who had been dismissed from positions within the church for malfeasance and unstable -- and sometimes violent -- behavior. In the current issue of Scientology's Freedom magazine, the church charges that CNN treated the group to "free airfare, free lodging, free meals and limousine service to and from Manhattan. After all," the article commented, "the moment AC360 sat them in front of a camera, these people were no longer merely violent, delusional and deviant; they were suddenly CNN sources." At the same time, Cooper sought no comment from church officials about allegations made by the members of the group or in any way to substantiate their allegations.

Part of their attack on Anderson Cooper includes a hilariously typical scientology video about him and an issue of freedom magazine that they happily passed out at the NY CNN offices.  I wonder if our local scientologists were let out of the basement to go to the Atlanta offices to spread the word?

They probably spent all their travel money when they sent Narconon to the big city last time. :-P

The more of this they do, the better.  It shows them as what they are - a petty non-religious revenge-seeking cult. 

Now that they own their own printing presses, I hope they do a lot more of it.
