Sometimes people want to download a video for personal use, recordkeeping, viewing offline, or whatever, but YouTube doesn't provide a utility for doing that.  Fortunately, other sites do.  There are also sites which will convert a flash video to other formats which are easier to play, and programs that will do the same.  Can anyone add to the list?

Keepvid is the one I use. It works great for Google Video and YouTube.

sothink also has a free FLV player in addition to the Firefox plug-in for FLV capture.

I haven't yet tried to find any utility for stripping out the video.
Why would you want to do that? Just curious.

VLC (at least some older versions -- the latest has been giving me trouble with this) can, but it's a few out of the way steps.

I see... I'll do some more google-fu and try to come up with an easy solution. I can always record the playback with audacity, but I will have a messed up recording if there is any rebuffering needed, or the movie skips around for any reason.

Why do I want just the audio? Because there are some awesome unofficial remixes/tracks out there that I want to burn to CDs, or put on an mp3 player, etc.
