Emma's announcement:
Everything. Everyone. Everywhere. Ends. This will certainly be a big loss, not only to the ESMB community, but to the larger community as well. There is no other forum that does what ESMB does, and it is an extremely needed place for new ex-members who are trying to come to grips with what they have given up part of their life to, who are trying to sort out the truth.
However, I also understand Emma's need to move on to the rest of her life - scientology demands totality from members, and she has given more than her share of time, on both sides. I believe anything she may have done for scientology as a member has been more than undone by now with ESMB. I wish her a long and happy life without anything resembling scientology, pro or anti, in it.
Emma has suggested that if an appropriate person steps up who is willing to admin the forum, she is willing to consider that possibility. I hope that a suitable person will volunteer. I hope it can continue. It is sad (and unfortunately, not too uncommon with internet forums) for people to lose their community.
Of course I'd be more than happy (delirious, actually) for any of the members of ESMB to become an active part of this community. It would be good for us to have some more active and knowledgeable posters. I know all of us would welcome them.
And it might be a gratifying experience for some of the ex-members who have healed from their traumas to take on the task of educating the public about scientology and its front groups, and helping others to deal with the fallout from them (much as Mary McConnell does with Narconon), to assure that there will be fewer new members in the future to experience the same, and that one day we may see an end to the poison that is the "Church" of Scientology.
I am still in a bit of shock, actually. I've never become a registered member of ESMB, but I have spent many hours lurking, partaking of the information posted there. I will miss it if it goes.
