ESMB and Emma
« on: August 17, 2010, 09:22 »

Though not a member of the above board, would it behoove someone to invite the posters there to THIS board? For those that do not know, Emma is moving on with her wonderful life. :D

As WWP is slowly burning all its bridges and ARS is just plain weird(For me) maybe some of the fine folks from ESMB will be looking for another safe harbor to post!

Emma's announcement: Everything. Everyone. Everywhere. Ends.

This will certainly be a big loss, not only to the ESMB community, but to the larger community as well.  There is no other forum that does what ESMB does, and it is an extremely needed place for new ex-members who are trying to come to grips with what they have given up part of their life to, who are trying to sort out the truth.

However, I also understand Emma's need to move on to the rest of her life - scientology demands totality from members, and she has given more than her share of time, on both sides.  I believe anything she may have done for scientology as a member has been more than undone by now with ESMB.  I wish her a long and happy life without anything resembling scientology, pro or anti, in it.

Emma has suggested that if an appropriate person steps up who is willing to admin the forum, she is willing to consider that possibility.  I hope that a suitable person will volunteer.  I hope it can continue.  It is sad (and unfortunately, not too uncommon with internet forums) for people to lose their community.

Of course I'd be more than happy (delirious, actually) for any of the members of ESMB to become an active part of this community.  It would be good for us to have some more active and knowledgeable posters.  I know all of us would welcome them.

And it might be a gratifying experience for some of the ex-members who have healed from their traumas to take on the task of educating the public about scientology and its front groups, and helping others to deal with the fallout from them (much as Mary McConnell does with Narconon), to assure that there will be fewer new members in the future to experience the same, and that one day we may see an end to the poison that is the "Church" of Scientology.

I am still in a bit of shock, actually.  I've never become a registered member of ESMB, but I have spent many hours lurking, partaking of the information posted there.  I will miss it if it goes.    :'(

I saw mention of an ex-member's forum that is perhaps not as well known:

Had a lookie @ that site. Call me old, but the format hurts my head. RFTTP is well laid out. Peeps need to know we are user friendly and not a bunch of hatin trolls. 8-^*. RFTTP has a calming effect. (cOocO)9

From my quick reading, it one doesn't look like the members would be gentle with the fence-sitters, which is a state many people are in just after leaving.  I know it's hard for most of us who have never been members to be gentle and patient with people who are still trying to make up their minds about just how much to give up, but it's something the denizens of ESMB are really good at, many of them having been in the same state when they left.

Glad you like it here, ST.  Hopefully we can stay user friendly and "not a bunch of hatin trolls."   ooo:-O

Good news!  The word from ESMB is that Emma has chosen someone she knows and trusts to take over her position as admin, the poster called "Human Again" will be her replacement, and Emma will get to have her scientology-free life.

:-D--U to Emma and Human Again!

Great news! It would be a shame to let that resource die off.
