Youth for Human Rights: front group
« on: June 03, 2009, 19:14 »
Their main page is here:
http://www.youthforhumanrights.org/index.htm

But there's a lot of info about the group here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Youth_for_Human_Rights_International

And there's a brief document about them here:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/11541352/Scientology-Front-Group-Youth-for-Human-Rights

OK, now talking:

they pretend to be a group advocating human rights, focusing on getting the young involved.  Many times UN declarations and such are cited.  But they always ... ALWAYS cite Hubbard, claiming him as a human rights activist.

Also, their leadership are all Scientologists, as listed in so many articles (more internet searches will bring about more fun info).

I think the summary portion of the Wikipedia page says more than i could about it:

Quote
Youth for Human Rights International (YHRI) is a non-profit organization based at 1954 Hillhurst Ave. # 416 in Los Angeles, California. Founded and largely staffed and financed by Scientologists, its stated mission is "To teach youth around the globe about human rights, thus helping them to become valuable advocates for the promotion of tolerance and peace."[1]

The organization promotes[2] Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard's writings on human rights and the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, by sponsoring essay and art contests and by providing materials for students and teaching guides for schools.[3]

According to the Church of Scientology International, Scientologist Mary Shuttleworth founded the organization in August 2001 "in coordination with the Church of Scientology International's Human Rights Office".[4] Scientology's website states that by 2004 it had established activities in more than 26 countries, including Mexico, the United States and Sweden.[5]

We should dig into this and see what the group has claimed to do to advance its overt agenda (getting youth interested in human rights issues), and what it has done to advance its COVERT agenda (grease the tracks that lead right into the Scientology pit).

My suspicion is that it exists only to get a tax break and put out press releases quoting Hubbard in a falsely positive light, and to suck money out of the wallets of both devotees of the cult and innocent bystanders.

Somewhat OT, but not really, here's its Hollyweird front - drop down to 'Archer targets human trafficking'.  One wonders if Amnesty International knows the truth.

Unbelievable.

This is another Scilon front group project that produces a lot of ZOMG!RAEG! articles about "human rights" that rail against such abuses while ignoring that their cult DOES THE EXACT SAME THING.

Suggested plan of approach:

A. Find their various articles railing against certain human rights issues.

B. Find documented cases where they did or do the exact same thing.
Expose Hubbard's "humanitarian" policies for what they really are.

C. Place the two side by side, with refernces & links.

D. A scathing concluding statement about hypocrisy is optional.

Dear fans, friends, and newbies across the globe,

If you do not know us, we are the Youth 4 Human Rights Race Team, which started in January 2007 and our purpose is to promote the 30 Human Rights as written in the Decleration of Human Rights from 1948 through the great wide world of motorsports.

As you might know, or not, your Human Rights are protected by Law and by the United Nations. In fact, many people do not even know what their Human Rights are... Us, as race drivers and race teams, have taken on this responsibility of making people aware of their Human Rights. We give out booklets and DVDs at the race days, which attract up to 130,000 spectators.

We promote under the slogan "We Race 4 Human Rights Awareness & Education".

Currently there are 7 international race drivers signed up for promoting the Human Rights through out the 2009 racing season - see list at the bottom of page.

If anybody would like to support or donate to this cause and worthy movement, please contact Niki Lanik on niki.lanik@gmail.com and he will be more than happy to help.

Sincerely,

The Youth 4 Human Rights Race Team
