Sosin is serving as medical director. This is the nephrologist that was treating children with autism as I recall.

A Word from our Medical Director

The Institute for Progressive Medicine was founded by Allan Sosin, M.D., a board certified internist and nephrologist with over 35 years of experience.

We treat people of all ages, with comprehensive, state of the art medicine. With access to both conventional and complementary therapies, we formulate programs for health that avoid the complications of drugs and surgery whenever possible. Here at the Institute for Progressive Medicine, our doctors work with you to arrive at the best possible treatment plan. We want you to have all treatment options available to you.

Our staff includes board-certified physicians and naturopaths with extensive training and experience in nutrition, vitamin and mineral supplementation, herbal therapies, prolotherapy, acupuncture, natural hormone replacement, chelation, intravenous nutrient therapies, and enhanced external counterpulsation (EECP).

Our purpose is to support health and manage illness with minimal use of drugs. Some alternative practitioners avoid drugs entirely. We believe it is important to have expertise in conventional therapies, in order to determine when drugs and surgery can be deferred, when and how drugs may be withdrawn, and when they should be employed.

It is a fallacy of current medical practice to label all problems as diseases and to intervene with chemical cures. At times the cure becomes worse than the disease. We often see people respond better to life-style change s and targeted nutritional supplements than to an array of drugs.

We live in a toxic world. Unfortunately, many physicians are not aware of the significant toxic burden that is added by layering an assortment of prescription drugs on their patients. The more drugs a patient takes, the greater the chance of significant adverse effects from those drugs. Older people, especially, are sensitive to these adverse effects. When it is safe, and possible to do so, drugs and drug dosages should be reducedWe specialize in helping people get off drugs, including prescription drugs that are causing them problems or that they no longer desire to continue.

Psychiatric medications, including sedatives, tranquilizers, anti-depressants and anti-psychotic agents are withdrawn gradually over a period of weeks to several months, one at a time, in order to avoid significant withdrawal effects. They can be discontinued more quickly when patients have been taking them for only days or a few weeks.

We have found that adding certain nutritional supplements make withdrawal much easier. These include magnesium and calcium, omega 3 fatty acids, SAM-e, B- complex vitamins, inositol, and amino acids such as 5HTP or tryptophan. Vitamins, minerals, and amino acids given intravenously are especially helpful in minimizing withdrawal symptoms. These treatments are available in our office IV treatment room, where therapy is provided in comfortable surroundings in little over an hour.

Sauna therapy is a particular successful method of enhancing detoxification from drugs as well as virtually any toxic material, including environmental toxins. Many patients with chronic fatigue, chemical sensitivity, fibromyalgia, stress disorders and cognitive problems have benefited from sauna therapy.

I don’t think it's a new facility; it appears to be a name change for the facilities controlled by Narconon Western United States.

They certainly could use a "fresh start", if they were to actually change anything about the way they do things.  But they won't.

I wonder why they would change their name, but leave the "Narconon" part in?   ooo:/

Hi Sunshine :)
Narconon Fresh Start is a DBA (doing business as) fictitious name for Narconon Southern California. They started this before they had their dba license in June 2011.  You can see the filings here. Note that both NARCONON SAN DIEGO and NARCONON WARNER SPRINGS are no longer licensed fictitious names of NN So Cal, as the license expired on 11/30/2009

In April 2011 you posted "Narconon Warner Springs now known as Sunshine Summit Lodge required a Major Use Permit (P01-020) to open and operate as a residential drug/alcohol facility and now operates under the conditions of that permit." Not sure if yu saw the followup infornation ethercat unearthed on that permit issue.

Below you can see that Narconon Southern California, the CA nonprofit corporation, began using dba's and then filed for dba's using another dba as the owner ( or so it appears from the database at the county  http://arcc.co.san-diego.ca.us/arcc/services/fbn/search.aspx

San Diego County Clerk Records show
Filing Number  Business Name              Owner Name                         Document Type Filing Date
2010-014760  NARCONON JLB RANCH   NARCONON SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Statement  5/27/2010
2011-016106  NARCONON JLB RANCH   NARCONON FRESH START Statement  6/2/2011
2004-039391  NARCONON SAN DIEGO   NARCONON SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Statement  11/30/2004
2011-016105  NARCONON SAN DIEGO   NARCONON FRESH START Statement  6/2/2011
2004-039391  NARCONON WARNER SPRINGS NARCONON SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Statement 11/30/2004
2010-002279  SUNSHINE SUMMIT LODGE NARCONON SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Statement  1/27/2010
2011-016105  SUNSHINE SUMMIT LODGE NARCONON FRESH START Statement  6/2/2011

Most likely these were created because of bad press and bad product being complained about on the internet. Legally they are all one and the same.

There is also Narconon Huntington Beach in Orange county.

Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk shows none of these dba names but the system at the county might not be set up to show more information.
