Did Narconon Hawaii rehab center ever open?
« on: June 30, 2015, 18:44 »
I think not. At the very least, it's closed and was short lived. But it seems more likely the place never actually opened.

rehab info narcononhawaii dot com
drug education info narcononhawaii dot org

Active "Narconon - Hawaii" business entity registered with the state & file articles of incorporation: Mar 8, 2002 but 2015 paperwork hasn't been filed yet. Narconon of Northern California also shows up in state registry as of Jan 25, 2012, but no Halcyon Horizons and 2015 paperwork also hasn't been filed yet.

Narconon Hawaii Info, addresses according to Google:

Current address is a suite in a strip mall:
1130 N. Nimitz Hwy, Suite C-230 Honolulu, HI 96817

The Honolulu addy was used on Narconon Hawaii 2005-06 Form 990s then they switched to a PO Box.

Previous address:
91-1011 Lexington St, Kapolei, HI 96707

The older narcononhawaii dot org website has photos posted of the Kapolei address listing it as their imaginary rehab facility.

From narcononhawaii dot org/drug-rehabilitation.html, which the internet archive first captured on 24 Apr 08 (page link shows up Nov 2007) with copyright date 2007, and current copyright date on the same page is 2010:

Note the datestamp on that last one: 4/27/2007

From internet archive history on US centers index listed on Narconon dot org:
Narconon Hawaii not listed Jun 11, 2007. First appears on Jun 29, 2007 with the Honolulu address. A link to a dedicated page for Hawaii rehab was added by Aug 6 2007 but it didn't live long enough to get captured. Only photo ever posted was a school auditorium presentation.

The Kapolei address is currently used by American Renaissance Academy.
See: http://www.arahawaii.org/

They are in the exact same building:

School website states under school history that campus is comprised of a five-acre property at the former U.S. Naval Air Station Barbers Point, and is currently leased from the Department of Hawaiian Homelands. Dept of Commerce Registration: May 6, 2007 with Jan 2008 Address Changes. Initial Form 990 says their first tax year began 5/29/2007 but they used a PO Box address.

So I called the school and pretended to be a parent relocating to the area, asked when that campus first opened and was told 2007. I was also told the school was initially open at a different location under a different name starting in 2005, which they changed when they relocated to their current address.

Conclusion: Narconon was fixing the place up in April of 2007, but a private school with no cult ties opened up there by the end of May. So they either lost their lease and got booted out of the place fairly quick, or were never actually located there in the first place.

Extra Lulz: Kelly Preston first started doing Narconon Hawaii promotional stunts with their educational program in May 2006. May 24, 2007 Kelly Preston and John Travolta held a big fundraising dinner for the "new Narconon Hawaii drug rehab center" at the Honolulu Design Center: http://archives.starbulletin.com/2007/05/08/features/story03.html

Five days later the private school open at their imaginary rehab location and there's no sign another one was ever opened elsewhere.

Looking at the Narconon Fresh Start referral website addictionca dot com for Hawaii just to make sure I didn't miss an actual rehab location, the Honolulu address pops uo WITH A DIFFERENT SUITE NUMBER as a rehab center named Ku Aloha Ola Mau: Drug Treatment and Recovery, which appears to be a legit facility with three locations  that has no ties with Narconon that I can find. They do methadone and subaxone dosing, psychological and psychiatric treatments, etc. See: www. kualoha.com

I think the Hawaii location was devoted to drug education only.

Yes, that appears to be the case with this address: 1130 N. Nimitz Hwy, Suite C-230 Honolulu, HI 96817

But the 91-1011 Lexington St, Kapolei, HI 96707 address is a different story.

The rehab facility photo gallery shows a damn sauna was built in the building where the American Renaissance Academy is, with a date stamp 1 day before the Preston Travolta fundraiser.

They tried recruiting me to work there.  Only good thing about it was seeing Kelly Preston up close.  Wow!!!  I knew the place was going to be a dud.  Who wants to live on an island anyway?

Bobby Newman was running the show last I heard.
ET went home.

Bump for Mary to do one of her awesome info dumps ITT when she gets a chance. I got a recent FOIA disclosure that overlaps with a ton of old info she already had gathered on this situation from waybackwhen.

"Rehabilitation services require a prescreening interview and evaluation."

Which probably boil down to, "Did the check clear?"
