Reaching for the Tipping Point is moving to a new server this weekend. I'm giving everyone a head's up now so no one will fear the worst while the site is unavailable.
So that no posts or PMs will be lost during the migration, I will put the forum into maintenance mode on Saturday night (October 4). The regularly scheduled and automated database backup will run that night, as usual. The site will be moved on Sunday afternoon (October 5).
During the "wait time", there will be a forum message shown to tell visitors what is happening. While the site is actually being moved, the server will probably not show the message.
I'll take it out of maintenance mode on the new server on Sunday evening, provided the move happens without snafu. The move is being done by our spectacular host, Jason, of Charlottezweb.com, who you should contact if you need good shared hosting with a personal touch.
The new server has the following specs, which should be a noticeable improvement in speed:
Intel Xeon E3-1270 V2
32gb of RAM
4 SSD drives in RAID 10

The current server we're on is named Monsoon. The new server we're moving to is named Landslide - which I hope will be prophetic with regard to all the bad weather that's heading Narconon's way now and in the future.
