Narconon Freedom Center issues a new press release. Here's an excerpt:

Quote
Ms. Johnson comes to the position with the Hospitality Industry. “I have worked with people from all walks of life and many have needed help. I have witnessed the Narconon Program help friends and family members successfully recover from their struggles with drug addiction. I made this career change to help others. Delivering drug prevention education talks to children on the truth about drugs is a great way to start and I’m excited about my new position,” says Johnson.

It turns out she was a bartender at Stagecoach Inn.

Does anybody working for Narconon , NOT have a criminal record?  Sheesh.

Their definition of "holistic" is like their definition of "cognitive behaviorial therapy".

You shouldn't give them ideas Ethercat. Apparently, "holistic" wasn't working for them and they have now opted to go with the full on mental health social worker approach.

Narconon Freedom Center Michigan, a drug rehab center, welcomes Fully Licensed Master Social Worker Randall Riser to their team.

Albion, MI (PRWEB) September 26, 2013

Narconon Freedom Center, an alcohol and drug rehabilitation center, welcomes Fully Hatted Master Social Worker Randall Riser to their addiction treatment team. Mr. Riser brings over 25 years of experience in addiction treatment and administration to the center’s current professional group.

“I’ve been working in my field for over 25 years and really admire the Narconon program and how effective it is. I can see how it works and why which makes it really exciting to work with the students and staff here,” said Riser.

Mr. Riser received his undergraduate degree at Albion College and his Master’s degree at Western Michigan University with a specialty in Policy Planning and Administration. He also has a post Master’s specialty in Gerontology.

Working for 17 years with the Department of Health he was the Chief Clinician at the Center for Forensic Psychiatry helping to determine if criminals were mentally fit to stand trial. He was often an expert witness.

His areas of treatment and administration cover developing and running a program for severe depression and anxiety, doing Psychological evaluations for the Policy Academy which is part of the Kellogg Comm College Criminal Justice program, and assisting the courts with drunk driving, substance abuse, and domestic violence evaluations.

For many years, Mr. Riser has maintained a private practice offering counseling for individuals, couples, families and other relationships. He is now sharing his time with Narconon Freedom Center helping the center with administrative procedures.

Randall E. Riser, LMSW - WTF are you thinking?

They just can't shake the Scientologese speak, and even put it in their press releases.  Sheesh.  These guys.  Not exactly the great diversion from Narconon Georgia getting shut down.  It is now a race between Michigan and Oklahoma as to who will get themselves shut down next.  See, they think it is "evil SP's" they're battling, but it is their own actions getting the closed and they can't even see it.

Hiring a licensed social worker is an attempt to appear to comply with state regulations, but none of his former training is actually allowed as a counselor in a Narconon center.  He has to be trained in Hubbard policies just like everyone else there...

Thanks. mefree. Always important to have current facts... Yes, people do change, they do get corrected.. and unfortunately, they do get sucked into working for groups like Narconon. Wonder if he's a graduate

I wonder how he will feel when he realizes that all of his experience, knowledge and clinical training will be completely dismissed as inferior to the tech and a Case Supervisor with 6 months of scientology training will be considered as more qualified and knowledgable in addictions than he is.

If he even sees a client for any type of therapy, he will probably be given orders by the same client once they graduate and get a couple months of scientology training under their belt.

In the real world, techs without licenses are considered para professionals and work under someone with a license.  Only in Narconon do the licensed work under the techs.

:D  They've already been using "cognitive behavioral therapy" in their promo for a while.

They just can't shake the Scientologese speak, and even put it in their press releases.  Sheesh.  These guys.

The scientologese is a large part of what keeps them indoctrinated, and a lot of exes can't seem to shake it completely, even after years out.  Even some Narconon attendees who didn't become staff picked it up without realizing.

We had a discussion about the "jargon" here, soon after TP began:

I wonder if this guy was knowledgeable about Scientology/Narconon before he got involved? Did he go through treatment there? Hopefully, he did his homework.

It's hard to fathom a professional getting involved with them. On the other hand, one must never underestimate the dishonest brainwashing aspect of a cult.

If I had to guess, he either went through the program and then was hired on there, or just needs a job and is willing to work anywhere...I doubt he retained his professional status and training and just decided that would be a good place to work because he liked "the tech."

Narconon equates TR's with CBT

Therapeutic Training Routines Course

This is a basic cognitive behavioral therapy course which rehabilitates an individual’s ability to confront, control, and communicate. It has been found that through the cycle of addiction these skills are lost or suppressed. These skills are rehabilitated through simple drills that are done in a course room setting. Upon completion students find that they are better able to exist comfortably in the present moment, communicate in a much more rational manner, and control themselves in situations that they would previously lose control in.

What has always amazed me is that TRs are really the basic training ground to be an auditor.  All of its routines are the basic framework so that an auditor can sit there without reacting and ask the same question over and over.  Keeping them moving forward is most important. Later NARCONON students use this ability when they deliver objectives.

Now they take something trained for auditing and try and retro-actively explain and apply that training as made for dealing with stress, communicating, etc.

It's almost like someone took a welding class and then stated that everything in the class was to better help the person stay clean off drugs by not reacting to the sparks, remaining calm and finishing their job.

Sure, you can make an analogy about anything but quit explaining NARCONON TRs as having anything to do with sobriety training.

Anything for the appearance of legitimacy, apparently.
