The US VS World in Regards to Sci

Why is the rest of the world seems to be catching on to the scam that is scientology so much faster than the US.

France has them on trial for fraud: http://www.catholic.org/international/international_story.php?id=33664

Italy: http://www.santicorna.net/santicorna/SHOW_20_05_09.html

Russia: http://xenutv.wordpress.com/2009/01/22/russian-students-protest-scientology/  Lets be honest no one protests in Russia without the gov completely backing it up.

I think something happened with narconon and Australia a bit a go, but I could not find it.

Don't get me wrong, I think we are making progress here in the US, but I do get a bit frustrated.

I think too many people are still afraid of them here. But, I do think the fear is lessening and that the press is beginning to do a better job. Time Magazine and Richard Behar got fair gamed pretty badly. The press doesn't forget this and it is a case study that is still used in journalism programs today.

I do get frustrated that our local or federal authorities don't take more of an interest in the human rights violations and abuses. I know an investigation can take a long time but, I don't get the impression that the FBI or anyone else has the cohones/interest to properly investigate them.

I don't understand that at all.

I think it is hard for the FBI to go after Sci for a few reasons:

- Hard to justify when there are radical Muslims running around with bombs
- Manpower is tied up in said terrorist-busting
- Hard to fit into a budget when programs are already being cut
- Hard to explain to the American people, especially with how good Sci PR can be
- That 'religion' label means bad PR for FBI even though we know its bolony
- Not enough *vocal* support for the investigation, yet (if we can get 20,000 people marching on DC or in Clearwater against the cult, then we would have something)

Religion is free. Scientology is neither.

And then we have goofy congressmen co-signing ridiculous letters. Sorry, I lack verbosity here. This just pisses me off!

wow! how stupid!

I sort of remember France telling us what to do a few years ago and the US didn't take it so well. Seems we need to keep our noses to our selves.

I am torn between whether these congressmen are ignorant or bribed/blackmailed.   ::)

I guess when and if we see any response from them, we may have a better idea of which it is.  I'm reminded of a quote that goes, "Never ascribe to malice that which can be ascribed to stupidity."  Perhaps that applies in this case.

WWP found three of them to have Sci connections, which is very disturbing IMO. Is seems that they're already on the right track, with plans to tip off local media about the connections.

I only caught part of that Alp I did see there was one with Sci connections. Sad state of affairs indeed.
