Scientology clergy force a mother to choose
« on: March 14, 2014, 22:58 »
Though tragic,I have come to the point of not caring. Why may you ask? Well the family enjoyed the scam when everything was all happy happy joy joy. Then when they had to face the ramifactions of "The Church" its like oh no,now the church is bad.

They got what they paid for. They embraced evil and from what I am seeing on other pro independent scientology boards still drink the Kool aid!

The parents joined a cult and passed that twisted ideology on to their children, which now are more than likely to pass that same sick ideology to their child.

Thanks for posting, ST.  The only way to win is by not playing the game.

So childish - it reminds me of elementary school, where one friend would say "I'm not going to be your friend if you stay friends with so-and-so."  I always chose the one who wasn't making the unreasonable demands.

Same thing happened with X-friend (my disconnected scientologist friend) once I was an adult.  He made the same demand, and I let him go instead.  I never regretted it for one minute.

Personal integrity matters more than family or friends.  To me, that is; others may feel differently and they're free to feel that way.

Thanks for posting this, ST!

The mother, Sara Goldberg, and her story are featured in the HBO Alex Gibney documentary titled Going Clear - Scientology and The Prison of Belief, based upon Lawrence Wright's book of the same title.
Here are some articles about it and her situation
