Hubbard was just mad that the beatniks probably wanted nothing to do with him - they were cooler than he was and he was jealous.  Like with the "psychs" who were real scientists as opposed to Hubbard's pseudo science and "research".

Narconon Arrowhead drug rehab facility is under investigation, but details are few - Tulsa World
By JARREL WADE World Staff Writer on May 19, 2013, at 2:27 AM  Updated on 5/19/13 at 8:24 AM

It's been 10 months since Stacy Dawn Murphy died at Narconon Arrowhead and a multiagency investigation began into the facility northeast of McAlester on Lake Eufaula.

Lawmakers have gotten involved, passing a bill this month to give state officials direct oversight of the rehab facility that employs detoxification techniques rooted in Scientology and has been the target of numerous lawsuits, some alleging wrongful death and fraud.

Patients who died at the facility include Gabriel Graves, 32, of Claremore; Hillary Holten, 21, of Carrollton, Texas; and Murphy, 20, of Owasso.

Graves died Oct. 26, 2011, and Holten died April 11, 2012.

Murphy's death July 19 from a drug overdose while at the facility sparked the investigation.

All three patients' families have filed wrongful death and negligence lawsuits against Narconon Arrowhead.

Tulsa attorney Gary Richardson, who is representing several families in various lawsuits against Narconon, said he has told his clients not to focus on shutting down Narconon.

"I've tried to help them understand that their job is not to focus on that," Richardson said. "I think that as long as they see movement (on the lawsuits) in that direction, that that eases their frustration."

Previously, family members frequented protests at Narconon Arrowhead calling for the facility to shut down.

"I have reason to believe things are going on now," Richardson said. "I know of a couple of witnesses that have been contacted of recent date that causes me to believe that if it (the investigation) had stalled at one point that something has happened."

My favorite part:
Quote
Narconon Arrowhead CEO Gary Smith said he is aware of no new developments in the investigation.

"I do not have any insight as to why the investigation is still pending," Smith said in an email. "The last activity on the investigation was an interview that was conducted by an OSBI officer at Narconon Arrowhead on March 25. Nothing since that time."
Respectfully,
CH

Cowboy Hat Sheriff Whitewashing Narconon Investigation - Wire Service Canada (press release)
23 May 2013, 11:28 pm
By David Edgar Love

Gary Richardson, Oklahoma Attorney representing several plaintiffs against Narconon Arrowhead et al., expressed his frustration this evening over stalled investigations by Sheriff Joe Kerns.

In an email, Richardson states: "As a former State Prosecutor, Investigator for the State of Oklahoma Insurance Department and former US Attorney, I know an investigation when I see one and what they may have claimed to do in Pittsburg County, whatever that is, is far from what I call an investigation."

Things seem to be heating up in Oklahoma. I don't know if the article is correct, but I had hoped the Pittsburg County Sheriff was conducting a thorough investigation, not a whitewash.

Quote
In a KRMG News report, Sheriff Kern said "he's awaiting toxicology reports on all three cases."

Gary Richardson said "to put it mildly, I was shocked to see Pittsburg County Sheriff Kerns on a Fox 23 special doing an interview on Narconon while an investigation is still supposedly on going. That wasn't, however, quite as shocking as what he said -- I recognize a "whitewash" when I see one."

"If they want to "whitewash" these 3 deaths that's one thing, but the audacity of this Sheriff to go public, especially when I take it that he still contends there is an investigation going on" is frustrating Richardson.

Richardson said he "can name a number of folks they either haven't interviewed that has facts" and "based on his 40 years' experience, the Sheriff's office wasn't looking for evidence to find fault."

Gary Richardson Calls Oklahoma Sheriff’s Investigation a “Whitewash”

Last night, David Love revealed that he received an e-mail from Gary Richardson, the attorney who is handling the wrongful death lawsuits of three patients who died at Scientology’s drug rehab facility in Oklahoma, as well as several other lawsuits against the facility.

In the e-mail, Richardson complained that Pittsburg County Sheriff Joel Kerns wasn’t contacting witnesses he knew had information about the deaths. He characterized Kerns’ investigation as a “whitewash.”

We’re putting in calls to Kerns to get his reaction to that this morning, and we’re talking to Richardson for more details on his allegations. We’re hoping to get a story up this afternoon.

Well, well, repackaging at its best.  Rather than being a Field Staff Member (which was once called a Community Involvement Specialist at Arrowhead), they're now calling it an Addiction Referral Specialist.

This just in (bold is mine):

Boy, for so many years, Scientology creates these weird nonsense names for ordinary things...because that's pretty much what cults do.

Now, they are actually going the other way.

Field Staff Member (wtf does that mean to ordinary people) becomes Addiction Referral Specialist.

I guess I can tell my boss that he is actually no longer a "3d terminal in my org" and actually call him my boss.

I guess TR (Training Routines) will soon be called "therapy routines"...

And Courseroom Supervisors will be referred to as "Process Group Counselors".

I'm a little surprised that they've decided to stop talking like the Daleks of Dr. Who.

But, I guess I'm just a little PTS'd and into some over-motivator sequence based upon either bypass charge from failure to duplicate source material at the Org I went to, or just in effect from an MU.

Or, in non-scientology speak, let's just say I'm irritated after being a part of Scientology.

The secret language of cults - used to secretly communicate, manipulate, control and stop you from thinking.

Quote
6. LOADING THE LANGUAGE -- Thought terminating cliches.

Everything is compressed into brief, highly reductive, definitive-sounding phrases, easily memorized and easily expressed.

There are "good" terms which represents the groups ideology and "evil" terms to represent everything outside which is to be rejected. Totalist language is intensely divisive, all-encompassing jargon, unmercifully judging. To those outside the group this language is tedious -- the language of non-thought.

This effectively isolates members from outside world. The only people who understand you are other members. Other members can tell if you are really one of them by how you talk.

This narrowness of the language is constricting. The individual is linguistically deprived because language is central to the human experience and his capacities for thinking and feeling are immensely restricted.

While initially this loaded language can give a sense of security to the new believer, an uneasiness develops over time. This uneasiness may result in a withdrawal into the system and he preaches even harder to hide his problem and demonstrate his loyalty. It may also produce an inner division and the individual will publicly give the right performance while privately have his own thoughts.

Either way, his imagination becomes increasingly disassociated from his actual life experiences and may even tend to atrophy from disuse.

From Orwell's 1984:

Quote
To know and not to know, to be conscious of complete truthfulness while telling carefully constructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which cancelled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them, to use logic against logic, to repudiate morality while laying claim to it, to believe that democracy was impossible and that the Party was the guardian of democracy, to forget, whatever it was necessary to forget, then to draw it back into memory again at the moment when it was needed, and then promptly to forget it again, and above all, to apply the same process to the process itself – that was the ultimate subtlety; consciously to induce unconsciousness, and then, once again, to become unconscious of the act of hypnosis you had just performed. Even to understand the word 'doublethink' involved the use of doublethink.

and

Quote
The power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them... To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then, when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just as long as it is needed, to deny the existence of objective reality and all the while to take account of the reality which one denies – all this is indispensably necessary. Even in using the word doublethink it is necessary to exercise doublethink. For by using the word one admits that one is tampering with reality; by a fresh act of doublethink one erases this knowledge; and so on indefinitely, with the lie always one leap ahead of the truth.

Just substitute $cientology, narCONon, or the Front Group of the Week for "Party" and it becomes very clear what's up.

Should these documents be released and should Narconon actually release them in full, I believe it would be a nightmare for several reasons.

Many people don't realize how common drug use among staff at narconon is, but how rare it is that an employee of Narconon is fired due to drug use.  Just like in scientology, if an employees stats are good they are considered valuable, and a reversion on drugs is no more then a temporary hiccup that can be handled with a couple weeks of TRs and conditions.

I think most treatment centers would be appalled to know that there exists a drug rehab that doesn't terminate people for drug use, but instead slaps them on the wrist for a couple weeks and puts them right back in charge of teaching clients how to be sober.

Also, what is unique about Narconon is that it is one of the very few private pay drug rehabs that has staff members actually live at or in the drug rehab.  Which means that many drug incidents actually occur on the property of the rehab.  I don't know of any therapists who would say that it was ok to live in your rehab.  There are reasons, but ignored in Narconon.

In addition, I think that if it turned out that a large number of drug incidents among staff is found, it puts into question their whole promoted success rate.  How could one argue against fraud if you promoted a 75% success rate but 50% of your staff graduates reverted on drugs at one time in their career there?

I guess they could say that 75% of students permanently remain abstinent, but less than half of staff does.  That would be an interesting selling point.

A man with a clean heart can't be harmed...

So what's the problem?

^^^^^ Good comment, source!

Those records will not be released to the public. I believe there already is a protective order in place for all client and employee related records required to be turned over.

These records were part of the original requests. Narconon balked and stalled and hopefully the judge will release them, but we won't see them unless they are highly redacted.

It's strange the reports I've read about Gabe. I was at NNAH when he passed away. All the reports I've read are completely different than what I deduced had happened while I was there...
