To be fair, I stopped taking the local paper four years ago, after fighting the urge to red pencil all the typographical / grammatical / spelling / layout / clarity errors! It is possible the local paper made a big fuss about it and I missed it. No one local has mentioned it to me, though, not even the Sci-aware neighbors who read the paper faithfully every day.

On the other hand, the biggest fuss when Clint Eastwood and crew descended on Savannah to film "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" was made AFTER the movie hit the theatres. A lot of people we know (including my mom and her friends and her friend's miniature horse!) were filmed as background colour in some scenes, and so I knew the film crew was there, but Savannah tends to be kind of blase' about such things now.

Y'all are welcome to come down with sleeping bags (I have lots of beds, but my mom has raided most of them for their sheets!) and then go protest her if you want to.

Nah, she's all right. A little nutty, but that's my problem, not yours.

Find out WHERE they are filming, if you can. Some places will be easier to get to than other places (e.g., private property, barrier islands, places downtown with no place to park, etc.). (What's this movie about? I MIGHT be able to guess, based on the theme, where they are filming.)

Miley Cyrus Wraps Filming at Tybee Island

Miley Cyrus wrapped up filming for The Last Song on Tybee island yesterday. The scene took place at Spanky’s Beachside and Miley was dropped off by her mom in the film, played by Kelly Preston.

Miley walked in during the Tybee Seafood Festival to visit her father, played by Greg Kinnear.

Spanky’s beachside owner John Yarlborough says that the buzz around the movie and Miley have brought unexpected business into his restaurant.

“We have had a bunch of young girls coming in, Miley fans, so business has been great, it was fun to watch ecverything, we don’t get access to things like this everyday,” Yarlborough told WTOC.

After that scene they moved to the beach, where they filmed more volleyball and carnival scenes.

The Last Song is set to hit theaters next year and the book comes out in September.

Ah. We couldn't have protested at Tybee. 90% of it is private property. It'd also be filthy and crowded. Spanky's is a decent restaurant chain here, though.
